How do TAMKO shingles hold up in hail?

StormFighter FLEX and HailGuard are UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated, the highest class in that test; Titan XT is Class 3, classified in 2023. HailGuard adds a system hail warranty of up to 20 years for leaks from hail up to 3 inches. TAMKO does not claim an IBHS rating for any of them.

Impact-rated shingles and insurance discounts

Many insurers offer a premium discount for a UL 2218 Class 4 impact-resistant roof. The discount, and whether it applies at all, is set by the insurer and the state, not by TAMKO. Ask your carrier before you choose a shingle for the discount.

Homeowners need to trust the shingles on their roof to protect their homes from severe weather, and the insurance discounts are an added bonus. When it's time for a new roof due to storm damage or age, we turn first to TAMKO for roofing materials due to their reliability and their exceptional performance.

TAMKO makes a “Titan XT” which is fine enough and a “Stormfighter” which I can recommend, but that’s a class above and not comparing apples to apples.

I've done hundreds of roofs with them and minimal issues. I've also looked at them after hail storms and haven't found a mark yet.

My crews have installed many squares of TAMKO Titan shingles, have over 300 squares installed on a waterfront property that has weathered many hurricanes over the past several years, zero blow outs, hot VA summers. Shingles still look brand new even after a hail storm that left all trim metals/siding damaged.
